Environmental Technician (Landfill Gas)

WM seeks an Environmental Technician (Landfill Gas) for full-time work at our Zeeland facility in Ottawa County, Michigan. In this role, you'll operate and maintain advanced landfill gas collection and control systems that capture and process methane from our landfill operations.

Position Summary

This position operates under the Gas Operations Manager and focuses on the day-to-day operation of our landfill gas extraction infrastructure. You'll ensure that all collection wells, piping, and conveyance equipment function safely and efficiently to support environmental compliance and operational objectives at our facility.

Your Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS)
• Monitor and maintain extraction wells and the interconnected piping networks that transport gas
• Oversee gas conveyance equipment including fans and blowers used in the collection process
• Perform preventive maintenance and diagnose equipment issues
• Record operational data and monitor system performance
• Support environmental compliance and safety protocols
• Coordinate with the Gas Operations Manager and team members on daily operations

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Technical aptitude and ability to learn complex environmental systems
• Experience with equipment maintenance or field operations preferred
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
• Valid driver's license
• Willingness to follow established safety and operational procedures
