The Opportunity

Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is seeking experienced Engineering Technical Leads to join its Operations Department in the Near-Time Operations division. This role will be based in Charles Darwin and is a full-time position with no remote option.

• Key responsibilities include leading technical operations, ensuring safe and reliable energy supply, and contributing to the energy transition for all Australians.
• The ideal candidate will have experience in engineering, project management, or related fields, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality outcomes under pressure.

Core Duties

• Liaise with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operations and continuous improvement in energy systems.
• Develop and implement technical strategies that support AEMO’s mission of safe, reliable, and affordable energy supply.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Skills & Qualifications

• A minimum of 8 years’ experience in engineering or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated expertise in energy systems, operations planning, and project management.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across diverse teams.
