GitLab is hiring an Engineering Manager, Growth to lead a high-impact engineering team across Canada and the United States, shaping how millions of users discover, adopt, and expand their use of the GitLab platform.

About the Role

As Engineering Manager, Growth at GitLab, you will build and nurture a team dedicated to the full self-serve funnel — acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, and monetization. Your central mission is to hire, mentor, and grow engineers while creating the conditions for them to deliver measurable results. Partnering with Product, Design, Data, and fellow Engineering leaders, you'll turn business objectives and user-journey insights into product improvements that help people reach value faster, all powered by AI-native experimentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing, values-aligned Growth engineering team.
• Own planning, prioritization, and delivery across experiments and product improvements that lift conversion, engagement, and upgrade flows.
• Drive experiment ideation, ICE-based prioritization, hypothesis design, and results review — scaling wins quickly and retiring low-impact efforts.
• Guide technical design and implementation, ensuring changes are well-measured and tied to activation, conversion, and retention outcomes.
• Collaborate across stage groups when work crosses team boundaries, maintaining clear ownership and strong partnerships.
• Champion AI-native workflows and experimentation to accelerate the delivery of user value.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing product, growth, or development teams and building high-performing, values-driven groups.
• A strong technical foundation with the ability to guide fullstack engineering, architecture discussions, and pragmatic delivery.
• A track record of working closely with Product, Design, and Data to achieve measurable outcomes through iteration and experimentation.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly across multiple product areas and stakeholder groups.
• Comfort operating in a data-informed setting — prioritizing opportunities and evaluating experiment results.
