The Opportunity
WelbeHealth is seeking an experienced Dispatcher to lead our transportation coordination efforts in San Bernardino. Your role centers on orchestrating comprehensive transportation logistics, ensuring vehicles are safely deployed and every participant reaches their destinations with dignity and care. You'll work at the intersection of operational excellence and compassionate service, managing complex schedules while building strong relationships with drivers, clinic teams, and the seniors we serve.
Your Responsibilities
- Design and modify transportation schedules each day, incorporating cancellations, additional pickup requests, and urgent changes
- Execute active dispatch operations to support seamless daily transportation workflows
- Document all communications in comprehensive call logs for audit and operational reference
- Monitor HUB communications and respond to operational requests promptly
- Revise transportation schedules based on Direct Line updates and system changes
- Record details of missed appointments and cancellations, immediately notifying clinic staff of any gaps in coverage
- Provide dispatching coverage during weekends as required
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent (relevant professional transportation background accepted in place of diploma)
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in public or private transportation operations
- Minimum 2 years in a dedicated dispatcher role
- Active, valid state driver's license and current vehicle insurance
- Cleared DMV pull notice screening; ability to pass random substance testing protocols
- Successful DOJ/FBI background clearance and DOT physical examination
- Eligibility to operate under WelbeHealth's commercial vehicle insurance (typically 25 years or older; candidates 23–24 evaluated individually; applicants over 70 may require current medical documentation)
- Strong interpersonal communication and technical proficiency with dispatch systems
- Excellent judgment under pressure when balancing competing operational demands
