Horizons Greater Washington is seeking a Director of Finance & Operations to lead financial strategy, human resources, and organizational systems in Washington, D.C. This is a part-time position, averaging 20 hours per week with seasonal variability, reporting directly to the Executive Director.
About the Role
As Director of Finance & Operations, you will drive strategic and operational leadership across finance, human resources, and organizational systems. You will establish the financial infrastructure, people operations, and internal processes that enable Horizons Greater Washington to achieve its mission efficiently and sustainably.
What You'll Do
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
- Manage accounting operations, controls, and regulatory compliance
- Lead human resources functions including recruitment, onboarding, and employee engagement
- Design and implement organizational systems and operational processes
- Partner with the Executive Director on strategic financial and operational priorities
- Monitor organizational performance and financial health
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to leadership and stakeholders
What We're Looking For
- Substantial experience in finance, operations, human resources, or nonprofit management
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting and financial management
- Ability to manage multiple operational functions independently
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Proficiency with financial systems, accounting software, and spreadsheet tools
- Experience managing part-time or flexible work arrangements
- Commitment to mission-driven work and organizational excellence
