The Arc of Northeast Indiana Inc is seeking a Direct Support Professional to join our Hazelwood, Allen County location. This part-time role works every other Saturday and Sunday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., with hourly compensation of $16.20 to $19.00, offering meaningful support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
What This Role Involves
As a Direct Support Professional, you'll be a trusted member of a support team dedicated to helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities live fuller, more connected lives. You'll focus on each person's capabilities, interests, and personal aspirations. Through your daily interactions and support, you'll help individuals participate meaningfully in their communities and work toward greater independence.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meals, and household tasks
- Support community engagement and help individuals access local activities and social opportunities
- Help individuals work toward personal goals and maintain healthy, consistent routines
- Provide transportation and accompaniment for appointments, outings, and community events
- Communicate clearly with individuals, families, and colleagues to ensure coordinated, respectful support
- Document activities, observations, and progress in required records
- Maintain safe, clean, and welcoming spaces for the individuals you support
Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including assisting and supporting individuals safely
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Dependable, punctual, and capable of maintaining a consistent schedule
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record (preferred)
- Willingness to pass a background check and obtain required clearances
