Key Responsibilities

• Supply clear information and practical guidance that helps victims of crime understand court procedures, their rights and available options
• Prepare victims for hearings, accompany them when needed and explain events as they unfold in the courtroom
• Support the creation and filing of victim impact statements so personal accounts reach the court accurately and respectfully
• Work closely with judicial staff, prosecutors, defence counsel and partner agencies to keep victims’ needs visible throughout proceedings
• Keep precise confidential records, follow established protocols and escalate concerns promptly when extra assistance is required

Qualifications

• Demonstrated specialist knowledge of court processes and experience assisting victims of crime
• Proactive, adaptable approach that thrives in a fast-paced court setting
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that build trust with people under pressure
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, remain calm under stress and advocate effectively for others
• Full-time availability to work from the Invercargill District Court base in Southland, South Island
