Martin & Carter, Inc. is seeking a skilled Cabinet/Furniture Maker for its Mid-City Los Angeles workshop. This full-time position is ideal for a dedicated craftsperson who excels in precision woodworking and takes pride in creating custom, high-end furniture pieces.
About the Role
As a Cabinet/Furniture Maker, you'll work on the complete lifecycle of bespoke furniture from raw materials to finished installation. You'll be part of a small, specialized team where your craftsmanship directly shapes the quality of every piece that leaves the shop.
What You'll Do
- Operate milling machinery to dimension and prepare solid wood and composite materials
- Assemble cabinet and furniture components using joinery and fastening techniques
- Perform detailed bench work, including hardware installation, edge banding, and component fitting
- Execute finish carpentry to achieve superior surface quality and aesthetics
- Support on-site installation and fitting of completed custom pieces
- Work from shop drawings and cutting lists with precision and accuracy
What We're Looking For
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and cut lists accurately
- Hands-on experience with woodworking machinery and traditional hand tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to fine craftsmanship
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a small-shop environment
- Physical stamina for standing, lifting, and repetitive work throughout the day
Compensation
Competitive starting wage of $24 per hour, based on experience. Paid time off included. Please note: this position does not include medical or retirement benefits.
