About the Role

As a Board Advisor (Volunteer) with Mothers to Daughters, you will bring board governance expertise to a mission-driven leadership team. Your counsel will directly influence how the organization grows, manages risk, and stays true to its values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver strategic, high-level guidance centered on sustainable growth, innovation, and risk management.
  • Keep leadership informed on emerging trends, regulatory shifts, and developments across the social impact sector.
  • Open doors to prospective partners, investors, and collaborators that create new opportunities for the organization.
  • Mentor executives on leadership, professional development, crisis response, and succession planning.
  • Advise on governance best practices so programs and decisions stay aligned with the organization's goals and values.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated board governance expertise paired with strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Prior engagement with UN agencies, programs, or funds—such as policy development, program management, or advocacy—and familiarity with UN frameworks, procedures, and decision-making processes, including their strengths and limitations.
  • A proven record designing and delivering social impact initiatives in areas like poverty alleviation, education, health, climate adaptation, or gender equality.
  • Experience building and measuring social impact metrics, plus knowledge of best practices in impact assessment and reporting.
  • Established networks within the UN system and the wider social impact community.
