What This Role Involves

As a full-time Assistant Store Manager at TJ Maxx, you'll play a critical leadership role in supporting the store manager to ensure smooth daily operations while building a motivated retail team. You'll contribute to creating a welcoming store environment while maintaining high standards of customer service, merchandise presentation, and business performance in our Madison location.

What You'll Do

• Assist in managing store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and inventory management
• Supervise, train, and coach team members to deliver excellent customer service and achieve sales targets
• Monitor floor sales, merchandise displays, and store conditions to ensure a well-organized, inviting shopping environment
• Support scheduling and staffing decisions to maintain optimal coverage during peak and off-peak hours
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly and professionally
• Collaborate with store leadership on loss prevention and security protocols
• Contribute to visual merchandising and promotional strategies that drive customer engagement

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior retail management or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong leadership and team-building skills with ability to inspire and motivate
• Excellent customer service orientation and communication abilities
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed
• Proficiency with retail point-of-sale systems and basic computer skills
• Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting merchandise, standing for extended periods, and moving throughout the store
• Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented work ethic
