This distinctive first-year writing course invites students to explore self and identity through literature and personal narrative, providing a foundational general education experience that strengthens critical thinking and communication skills.

About the Role

As an adjunct instructor, you'll lead Core 101: Narratives of the Self, guiding first-year students through an integrated study of literary analysis and composition. The course uses identity-focused narratives and themes of self to build both analytical and written communication abilities in a collaborative classroom setting.

What You'll Do

• Plan and deliver engaging course sessions that examine self, identity, and narrative across texts and genres
• Facilitate substantive classroom discussions on literary analysis and personal writing
• Design assignments that develop students' critical reading and expository writing abilities
• Evaluate student essays and provide detailed, constructive feedback to support their growth
• Prepare course materials, syllabi, and readings aligned with the Core Program's learning outcomes
• Track student engagement and learning progress throughout the semester
• Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment for diverse first-year learners
