Join Palomar Specialty Insurance Company as an Actuarial Analyst in our La Jolla, California or Edina, Minnesota office. We're seeking a full-time analyst to drive pricing and risk assessment decisions for our specialty insurance products serving residential and commercial customers.
Role Overview
As an Actuarial Analyst at Palomar, you'll apply statistical methods and actuarial principles to support underwriting, pricing, and financial planning decisions. You'll join a rapidly growing insurer that values innovation and self-motivated professionals committed to advancing specialty insurance solutions across the market.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Perform statistical analysis and data modeling to support rate and reserve decisions
- Develop and maintain actuarial models using industry tools and company systems
- Prepare reports and presentations for underwriting and management stakeholders
- Analyze claims data and emerging trends to inform pricing strategies
- Support risk assessment and underwriting guidelines development
- Collaborate with actuarial, underwriting, and operations teams on cross-functional projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, economics, or related field
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of actuarial principles, pricing methodologies, and reserving techniques
- Progress toward or completion of professional actuarial exams (SOA or CAS) preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated with ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
