About the Role

The Executive Content Developer at Benchmark Education Company is pivotal in our mission to build language and literacy for all. This role involves developing new print and digital products, particularly focusing on K-2 Core Development for the writing strand of Max Literacy. The position requires a deep understanding of best practices in professional teaching and learning, along with practical classroom experience.

Key responsibilities include:

• Demonstrating expertise in creating literacy materials for teachers and students
• Maintaining instructional design integrity focused on the Writing for Understanding pedagogy and content scopes and sequences
• Coordinating with pedagogical experts, editorial leadership, and content developers to develop comprehensive content for various audiences
• Ensuring adherence to writing and editing guidelines during manuscript and production stages
• Managing, training, and providing ongoing guidance to content developers of all experience levels
• Developing a plan for additional resources when necessary to meet deadlines and content requirements

What You'll Do

The Executive Content Developer will work closely with authors, editors, Creative Services, and Marketing. Duties include:

• Evaluating, developing, and editing instructional materials for children, families, and teachers in both print and digital formats
• Reviewing, editing, and approving manuscript and production stages by collaborating directly with pedagogical experts, editorial leadership, content developers, copyeditors, graphic designers, and photo researchers
• Managing a team of content developers to ensure project timelines are met and quality standards are maintained
• Providing strategic direction for the development of new products that align with educational goals and market needs
