About the Role

The Automation Maintenance Technician (All Levels) position at Symbotic in Manchester, Pennsylvania supports day-to-day care of industrial automation assets. Because openings exist across experience levels, technicians can progress from foundational tasks to more advanced diagnostic and optimization work. You will help minimize downtime, uphold safety standards, and maintain the performance of electromechanical systems in a fast-paced operational setting. The role is fully site-based with no remote or hybrid component.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated machinery, conveyors, sensors, motors, and control components to ensure continuous operation.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using multimeters, software tools, and technical drawings.
• Respond quickly to equipment failures, diagnose root causes, and complete repairs or replacements with quality workmanship.
• Execute routine inspections, calibrations, and lubrication schedules while documenting all activities in the maintenance system.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering colleagues to improve system reliability and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow lockout-tagout, PPE, and other site safety protocols at all times.
• Order or request parts as needed and assist with inventory accuracy for spares related to automation equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or trade certification in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or related fields is preferred for all levels of Automation Maintenance Technician (All Levels).
• Hands-on experience (or strong foundational knowledge for entry level) with PLCs, VFDs, sensors, robotics, or similar automated systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, and ladder logic or equivalent control documentation.
• Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic principles commonly found in industrial automation.
• Proficiency with basic hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments such as multimeters and temperature guns.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and clear communication when escalating issues or training peers.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts as required by plant operations and to maintain a safe, clean work area.
