Associate Director of IT Business Operations

Northeastern Illinois University seeks an Associate Director of IT Business Operations to lead the financial and operational strategy of University Technology Services in Chicago. As Associate Director of IT Business Operations, you'll oversee the administrative and financial operations that enable University Technology Services to deliver effective support across campus. This position sits at the intersection of technology leadership and business management, requiring you to think strategically about technology investments, resource allocation, and operational efficiency while directly supporting the university's academic and administrative missions.

What You'll Do

• Direct financial planning, budgeting, and fiscal stewardship for University Technology Services
• Oversee IT service delivery operations, performance metrics, and operational workflows
• Manage technology vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements
• Lead and develop IT operations staff while fostering a collaborative team environment
• Develop and implement strategic initiatives that align technology investments with institutional priorities
• Ensure compliance with institutional policies, technology standards, and regulatory requirements
• Partner with academic and administrative departments to identify and address technology needs

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field
• Five or more years of professional experience in IT operations, technology management, or business operations
• Proven experience with IT budgeting, financial planning, and technology vendor management
• Strong leadership capabilities and experience managing technical teams
• Excellent communication skills with diverse audiences—both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Knowledge of IT service management frameworks and best practices
• Experience in higher education technology services environments (preferred)
