Account Manager Senior – Inside Public Sector

Lumen seeks an experienced Senior Account Manager to lead inside public sector sales and account management. This full-time position is based in Five Points, Wake County, where you'll drive client relationships and revenue growth within the government and public sector vertical.

Position Summary

As Senior Account Manager for the Public Sector division at Lumen, you'll own and expand high-value government and public sector accounts. You'll be instrumental in helping federal, state, and local agencies connect, secure, and scale their operations through Lumen's network solutions. This role combines strategic account development with hands-on relationship management, requiring both sales acumen and deep industry knowledge of the public sector buying process.

Your Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of government and public sector accounts, driving revenue expansion and contract renewals
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with government decision-makers, procurement teams, and agency stakeholders
• Identify new business opportunities within assigned accounts and work cross-functionally to develop tailored solutions
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring satisfaction and addressing account needs
• Collaborate with technical, solution engineering, and delivery teams to ensure successful implementations and client success
• Meet or exceed sales targets and account management metrics
• Navigate complex government procurement processes, contract negotiations, and compliance requirements

Requirements

• 5+ years of inside account management or enterprise sales experience, preferably within the telecommunications, technology, or government sectors
• Proven success managing and growing large accounts with complex stakeholder environments
• Experience with or willingness to learn government and public sector sales dynamics and procurement practices
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
• Organized, detail-oriented approach with strong CRM and administrative capabilities
