About the Role
As a Trainee-Graduate Engineer, you'll support the Transportation Department's mission to design, build, and maintain Minnesota's transportation systems. What You'll Do
- Assist senior engineers in the design and planning phases of transportation projects
- Conduct field inspections, surveys, and site documentation on active construction and maintenance work
- Support the development of technical drawings, specifications, and project reports
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions
- Gather and organize data for transportation planning and traffic analysis
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including surveyors, contractors, and public stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with state standards
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related discipline (or degree in progress)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with standard computer applications and willingness to learn transportation software tools
- Valid Minnesota driver's license required
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Commitment to learning and professional growth in the engineering field
