About the Role
As the Preliminary Design Supervisor with the State of Minnesota's Transportation Department, you will guide a team responsible for developing early-stage roadway and highway design plans in Detroit Lakes, Becker County. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the preliminary design phase for transportation and roadway projects.
- Provide technical leadership and direction to engineering staff and project teams.
- Review design concepts, layouts, and plans to ensure they meet state standards and project objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, local agencies, and internal departments to advance projects from concept toward construction.
- Balance schedules, resources, and quality across multiple concurrent design assignments.
Qualifications
- Qualification at the Engineer Senior or Engineer 2 Graduate classification, depending on experience and credentials.
- A background in civil, transportation, or roadway engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, or supervise technical staff.
- Strong communication and coordination skills for working across teams and external partners.
- Familiarity with preliminary design processes and applicable engineering standards.
