R&D Electrical Engineer – Analog / High Voltage (LC/MS Platforms)

Agilent Technologies is seeking an R&D Electrical Engineer specializing in Analog and High Voltage circuit design for LC/MS Platforms, located in Santa Clara, California. This is a full-time position contributing to the development of advanced liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analytical instruments.

About the Role

Join Agilent's Life Sciences and Diagnostics engineering team to design and develop cutting-edge electrical systems for next-generation LC/MS analytical instruments. Your work will directly impact scientists in pharmaceutical research, clinical diagnostics, food safety, environmental testing, and forensics across more than 110 countries worldwide. You'll contribute to instruments that help researchers make critical discoveries and solve demanding analytical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize analog circuits for LC/MS detector modules, ion sources, and other mission-critical subsystems
• Develop high voltage circuit architectures, component specifications, and integration strategies that meet precision and safety requirements
• Build prototype circuits, conduct functional testing, and validate performance against design specifications
• Troubleshoot electrical issues in prototype and production systems, identify root causes, and implement corrective solutions
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration
• Create detailed electrical schematics, bill-of-materials documentation, and test reports for design review and regulatory compliance

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience in analog circuit design
• Demonstrated expertise designing analog circuits including amplifiers, signal conditioning, and data acquisition stages
• Solid understanding of high voltage circuit design principles, safety protocols, and component selection
• Experience with analytical instrumentation, laboratory equipment, or medical device electronics (LC/MS, GC, or similar preferred)
• Proficiency with circuit simulation tools (SPICE, LTspice) and schematic capture software (Altium, OrCAD, or similar)
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in a regulated environment
• Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a collaborative R&D setting
