Merck is hiring a Virology (HIV) Community Medical Scientific Liaison and Regional Associate Director to lead scientific engagement and disease education efforts across the Mid-Atlantic region, based in Glendale, Colorado.
About the Role
As a Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) specializing in HIV virology, you will serve as a trusted scientific resource and strategic partner to healthcare providers, community organizations, and clinical teams in your region. This is a full-time role where you'll combine clinical knowledge with field expertise to advance Merck's mission in HIV prevention, treatment, and care delivery.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain professional relationships with infectious disease specialists, primary care physicians, and community health organizations focused on HIV care and virology research
- Provide peer-to-peer medical and scientific education on HIV treatment advances, clinical trial data, and disease state management
- Serve as a scientific expert on company initiatives, clinical evidence, and emerging research in HIV virology
- Conduct presentations, workshops, and educational sessions at healthcare facilities and community forums
- Stay current with peer-reviewed literature, clinical guidelines, and scientific developments in virology and HIV medicine
- Support regional medical and commercial teams by gathering market insights and healthcare provider feedback
- Represent Merck at medical conferences, professional meetings, and community health events
- Ensure all scientific communications are accurate, evidence-based, and compliant with regulatory standards
What We're Looking For
- Advanced degree in life sciences, pharmacy, nursing, or related healthcare field (PharmD, MSN, MS in microbiology/virology, or equivalent professional credential)
- Demonstrated experience in medical science liaison, clinical research, or infectious disease specialty roles
- Deep knowledge of HIV treatment, prevention strategies, and virology research
- Strong scientific communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences
- Established relationships or demonstrated ability to build networks within the HIV clinical and community health landscape
- Ability to travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic region to meet with healthcare providers and community partners
- Self-directed, strategic thinker comfortable working autonomously in a field-based role
