Join Sunshine Retirement Living as a full-time Cook in Strongsville, Cuyahoga County, where you'll prepare delicious, nourishing meals for our residents while supporting a welcoming, team-focused kitchen environment. This position reports to our Executive Chef and includes rotating weekend and holiday schedules.

About the Role

As a Cook at our senior living community, you'll play a vital role in our residents' daily well-being by creating nutritious, visually appealing meals that meet diverse dietary preferences and medical needs. You'll work alongside our culinary team to maintain efficient kitchen operations, uphold rigorous food safety standards, and deliver the quality dining experience our residents deserve.

What You'll Do

• Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals according to established menus and recipes
• Follow specialized dietary accommodations including low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, pureed, and texture-modified meals
• Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, and HACCP protocol compliance throughout all food preparation
• Operate kitchen equipment including ovens, ranges, steamers, and prep machinery safely and efficiently
• Coordinate meal preparation timing to ensure hot, fresh food service for dining areas
• Manage food inventory, stock rotation, and par level monitoring
• Assist with kitchen setup, cleanup, and equipment maintenance between shifts
• Respond to special requests and menu modifications as needed for resident care plans
• Support team communication and collaboration during high-volume meal service

What We're Looking For

• Experience preparing meals in a food service, restaurant, institutional, or healthcare setting
• Knowledge of food safety protocols, allergen awareness, and proper food storage practices
• Ability to work rotating schedules including weekends and holidays
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a warm kitchen environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality presentation
• Reliable, team-oriented mindset and professional demeanor
• Willingness to take direction from the Executive Chef
