Champaign Unit 4 School District is seeking a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant to join our Student Support Services team at Central High School, supporting students in our Essential Skills Special Education Program. This full-time position runs 7.0 hours per day and becomes available in August 2026.
About the Role
As a CNA in our Essential Skills program, you'll provide direct health support and assistance to students with diverse learning needs. This role bridges clinical care and education, ensuring students receive the attention they need to thrive both academically and socially while fostering independence and dignity.
What You'll Do
- Perform certified nursing care tasks including vital signs monitoring, wound care, and hygiene assistance as directed by school nursing staff
- Support students' essential life and daily living skills development
- Assist with student mobility, transfers, and positioning using proper techniques
- Maintain detailed health records and communicate with the school nursing team and special education staff
- Support classroom transitions and activities while ensuring student safety and comfort
- Respond promptly to health-related student needs throughout the school day
What We're Looking For
- Current listing on the Illinois Department of Public Health's Health Care Worker Registry (HCWR)
- Active CNA certification
- Ability to work compassionately with students facing learning and developmental challenges
- Strong communication skills and collaborative spirit with school staff
- Physical ability to assist students and perform tasks throughout a school day
