Registered Nurse – Ortho Trauma Med-Surg

About the Role

As an ortho trauma med-surg nurse at Mission Hospital, you'll provide direct patient care across multiple units, managing complex cases that demand clinical precision, compassion, and adaptability. You'll work alongside surgeons, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to support patients through recovery and healing, using evidence-based practices and critical thinking to ensure optimal outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Assess patients' physical, emotional, and psychological needs; develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications, manage IV therapy, and monitor vital signs and patient responses
• Perform wound assessments, dressing changes, and post-operative care for surgical patients
• Coordinate care with physicians, physical therapists, and case managers to support discharge planning
• Maintain accurate medical records and communicate effectively with the care team
• Respond to patient needs with empathy and professionalism in a fast-paced environment

What We're Looking For

• Current RN license (active and in good standing in North Carolina)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift and position patients safely; physical stamina for an acute-care environment
• Experience in medical-surgical nursing, trauma, or orthopedic nursing is preferred
• Clinical judgment, critical thinking, and commitment to patient-centered care
