About the Role

As a Long-Term Substitute Teacher, you'll lead daily social studies instruction for Grade 6 students in a collaborative school environment. Unlike short-term assignments, this position allows you to build lasting relationships with your class, implement cohesive curriculum, and genuinely impact student learning over an entire academic year.

What You'll Do

• Teach Grade 6 social studies aligned with Pennsylvania academic standards and district curriculum frameworks
• Design and deliver engaging lessons covering civics, history, geography, and social skills appropriate for middle school learners
• Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, and adjust instruction to support diverse needs
• Build an inclusive classroom culture where all students feel valued and encouraged to participate
• Maintain detailed records including attendance, grades, and student progress documentation
• Collaborate with grade-level and subject-area colleagues on curriculum, intervention strategies, and school initiatives
• Communicate with families about student progress, classroom expectations, and school involvement opportunities

What We're Looking For

• Valid Pennsylvania teaching credentials or appropriate substitute teacher authorization
• Bachelor's degree with strong background in social studies or related content
• Demonstrated ability to engage middle school students and manage a classroom effectively
