EMS is hiring a Harbor Deckhand for our Watson, Clark County operation near Jeffersonville, Indiana. In this full-time position, you'll work aboard our towing vessels as a valued member of the crew, performing essential deck operations and maintaining the highest safety standards on the water.
About the Role
As a Harbor Deckhand with EMS, you'll play a critical role in our daily towing operations. Working on our vessels, you'll handle deck duties that keep our marine operations running safely and efficiently. Your contributions directly support customer vessels and other EMS boats operating throughout our Jeffersonville, Indiana service area.
What You'll Do
- Perform deck operations including making and breaking tows for customer and company vessels
- Monitor the towing vessel for safe operating conditions throughout each shift
- Assist with vessel positioning and maneuvering during maritime operations
- Report any unsafe or hazardous conditions immediately to the Master-on-Duty
- Support a strong culture of safety by prioritizing your own safety and your coworkers' wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with the vessel crew to complete assigned tasks and maintain operational excellence

- Commitment to marine safety and adherence to all safety protocols
- Physical capability to work on deck and handle the demands of maritime operations
- Ability to communicate clearly with the captain and fellow crew members
- Reliable attendance and a team-oriented work ethic
- Willingness to learn and grow within the maritime industry
- Prior maritime or deck experience is valued but not required for candidates eager to build a career in harbor operations
