About the Role
As a Security Services Representative for Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, you'll serve as a trusted front-line presence at our La Jolla location. Reporting to our Chief of Security, you'll balance vigilant site protection with genuine hospitality—ensuring every guest and staff member feels welcomed and secure. This is part-time, non-exempt work structured around special events and museum needs, offering flexibility while maintaining the highest security standards.
What You'll Do
- Monitor and control museum access, verifying credentials and managing visitor flow at entry and exit points
- Conduct regular patrols of galleries, public spaces, and restricted areas to detect and address security concerns
- Respond promptly to security incidents, disturbances, or emergencies while escalating appropriately to senior staff
- Provide clear, courteous directions and assistance to museum visitors navigating our San Diego County campus
- Document and report security observations, incidents, and activities in accordance with museum protocols
- Support special events, exhibitions, and private functions with dedicated security oversight
- Collaborate with colleagues across museum departments to maintain a safe, professional environment
What We're Looking For
- Professional demeanor and strong communication skills, comfortable interacting with diverse visitors and staff
- Ability to remain alert and focused during extended shifts and respond calmly to high-stress situations
- Physical capability to stand for extended periods and move efficiently throughout museum facilities
- Reliability and flexibility to work on-call special events as museum scheduling requires
- Interest in cultural institutions, art, or visitor-centered service a strong plus
- Security experience or relevant training preferred; willingness to complete required security certifications
- Sound judgment and the integrity to uphold confidentiality and security protocols at all times

Compensation
