About the Role
As Assistant Controller (AP & Construction), you'll oversee critical accounts payable functions and financial operations that keep construction projects on budget and on time. This hands-on role combines AP process management, job cost accounting, vendor relationship oversight, and month-end close responsibilities, with direct impact on our company's financial controls and operational efficiency.
What You'll Do
- Manage accounts payable processes from invoice receipt through payment, ensuring accuracy and timely processing
- Oversee job cost accounting and project-level financial tracking for construction jobs
- Maintain vendor relationships, resolve discrepancies, and negotiate payment terms
- Execute month-end close activities, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
- Monitor and strengthen internal financial controls and compliance procedures
- Support budget analysis and financial reporting for construction operations
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams on cost tracking and variance analysis
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in accounts payable management and construction accounting
- Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, project accounting, or construction financial operations
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Clear communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations and field teams
- Associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
