EHS Manager

WestRock is hiring an EHS Manager to lead health, safety, and environmental compliance at our facility in Joplin, Jasper County. This full-time role is critical to our mission of creating sustainable packaging solutions while maintaining a safe, compliant workplace for all employees.

About the Role

As EHS Manager at our Joplin location, you'll develop and execute comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs that protect our workforce and minimize operational risk. You'll report directly to site leadership and serve as the environmental health and safety champion across the facility, ensuring WestRock maintains the highest standards of workplace safety and regulatory compliance.

What You'll Do

• Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and training programs to meet OSHA and state environmental standards
• Conduct workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits to identify and mitigate risks
• Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, document findings, and implement corrective actions
• Manage environmental permits, waste disposal practices, and pollution prevention initiatives
• Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and comprehensive training for all staff levels
• Track safety metrics, incident trends, and KPIs to drive continuous improvement
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and reporting requirements
• Partner across departments to embed safety culture into daily operations

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Minimum 3–5 years of EHS management experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA standards, and state environmental compliance
• Experience managing environmental permits and conducting environmental assessments
• Proficiency with EHS management systems and incident tracking software
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence at all organizational levels
• Proven track record of reducing workplace injuries and improving safety performance
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the region as needed
