Datavant is seeking a CPC Processor I Customer Support specialist to join its team in Talcott Village, Hartford County. In this role you will help ensure the secure and timely handling of healthcare data requests while providing responsive support to customers.
About the Role
The CPC Processor I works on the front line of Datavant’s data collaboration platform, processing requests for medical records and other protected health information. You will verify requester identity, apply appropriate authorization rules, and prepare data releases in compliance with HIPAA and state regulations. The position blends operational processing with customer service to deliver a seamless experience for providers, health plans, researchers, and patients.
What You'll Do
- Receive and triage incoming record requests via phone, email, and the Datavant portal.
- Validate requester credentials and confirm patient consent before releasing information.
- Extract, format, and package the requested data using Datavant’s secure processing tools.
- Apply the correct CPT, ICD, and HCPCS coding standards when summarizing clinical information.
- Maintain accurate logs of all transactions in the tracking system for audit purposes.
- Respond to inquiries about request status, fees, and turnaround times with clear, courteous communication.
- Escalate complex or ambiguous cases to senior processors or the compliance team.
- Participate in regular training updates on privacy laws, data security protocols, and platform enhancements.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in health information management is a plus.
- Previous experience processing medical records, insurance claims, or customer support in a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and basic medical coding concepts (CPT, ICD‑10, HCPCS).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized operating procedures.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency with computers, including data entry, spreadsheet use, and web‑based applications.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team‑oriented environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
