About the Role
As a Visitor Assistant, you'll be the welcoming presence on our museum floor, bringing our exhibits to life and ensuring every visitor leaves inspired. This part-time position blends guest engagement, educational leadership, and operational support in one dynamic role.
What You'll Do
- Oversee floor operations and guest interactions to maintain safety, security, and enjoyment throughout the museum
- Conduct interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities in our STEAM Lab, engaging visitors of all ages
- Facilitate visitor participation in educational activities centered around model railroads and engineering
- Support ticketing and guest check-in functions to assist the Floor Staff Manager
- Communicate operational issues and equipment concerns to the Facility Manager to keep exhibits in excellent working order
- Answer questions about our collections and help visitors navigate their experience
What We're Looking For
- Excellent interpersonal skills and genuine enthusiasm for engaging with diverse visitors
- Physical capability to stand, walk, and remain active throughout shifts on the museum floor
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, attention to detail, and guest-centered service
- Customer service experience or background in education, hospitality, or visitor-focused work
- Reliability, punctuality, and ability to collaborate effectively with a small team
