Program Manager (Budget) – Department of Transportation

The City of San Jose seeks a Program Manager (Budget) to join the Department of Transportation in San Jose. In this full-time role, you'll drive strategic budget planning and financial oversight for one of Silicon Valley's most dynamic municipal transportation programs.

About the Role

The Program Manager (Budget) serves as a financial steward for the Department of Transportation, managing budget cycles, forecasting resources, and ensuring sound fiscal practices across transportation initiatives. You'll combine financial acumen with program management expertise to support San Jose's commitment to safe, efficient, and innovative transportation services for our community.

What You'll Do

• Develop, monitor, and manage annual and multi-year budgets for transportation programs and initiatives
• Conduct financial analysis, variance reporting, and forecasting to inform departmental decision-making
• Coordinate budget activities across multiple transportation divisions and external stakeholders
• Prepare comprehensive budget documentation, justifications, and financial reports for municipal review
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend resource optimization strategies
• Ensure compliance with municipal fiscal policies, state regulations, and federal funding requirements
• Collaborate with finance teams and departmental leadership on budget priorities and allocations

What We're Looking For

• Strong background in budget management, financial planning, or program administration
• Demonstrated experience with municipal budgeting, public sector finance, or government operations
