CDM Smith is seeking an International PFAS Forensics Subject Matter Expert to join our team in Lenoir Rhyne, North Carolina. This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead critical investigations into per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance contamination and shape environmental remediation strategies on an international scale.

About the Role

As our International PFAS Forensics Subject Matter Expert, you will serve as a technical leader on complex environmental investigations involving PFAS contamination. You'll provide forensic analysis, site characterization, and remediation guidance for clients navigating multi-jurisdictional environmental challenges. Your expertise will directly influence project outcomes, regulatory compliance strategies, and client decision-making on high-stakes contamination issues.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct forensic assessments to identify, trace, and quantify PFAS contamination at contaminated sites
  • Develop and execute comprehensive site characterization plans including groundwater and soil sampling protocols
  • Analyze environmental data and prepare detailed technical reports for regulatory agencies and project stakeholders
  • Evaluate remediation options and recommend cost-effective, technically sound cleanup strategies
  • Advise clients on international PFAS regulations, drinking water standards, and compliance pathways across jurisdictions
  • Serve as a technical resource and quality assurance lead on PFAS-related projects
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, hydrogeologists, and legal counsel

What We're Looking For

  • Advanced degree in environmental science, geology, chemistry, or engineering (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Extensive hands-on experience with PFAS site investigations and forensic analysis
  • Deep knowledge of PFAS fate and transport, analytical methods, and regulatory frameworks
  • Demonstrated expertise in international environmental standards and multi-jurisdictional compliance
  • Strong technical writing and stakeholder communication skills
  • Track record of leading complex environmental assessments and remediation projects
