School Counselor – High School 2026-27

Columbia Schools seeks a dedicated School Counselor for the high school level to support students' academic, social, and emotional growth during the 2026-27 school year. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position based in Columbia, Boone County, joining our teaching team to make a meaningful impact on student success and well-being.

About the Role

As a School Counselor in our high school, you'll be at the heart of student development, providing comprehensive guidance and support that helps young people navigate academics, career planning, and personal challenges. You'll work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, families, and community partners to create an environment where every student can thrive. This position is part of our teaching staff and follows the TEACH calendar with exempt status under FLSA regulations.

What You'll Do

• Provide individual and group counseling to high school students on academic planning, college readiness, and social-emotional concerns
• Develop and deliver classroom guidance lessons aligned with school and district counseling standards
• Partner with parents and guardians to address student needs and support positive outcomes
• Coordinate with teachers and administrators to identify students who need additional support and intervention
• Assist with course selection, transcript review, and college and career exploration
• Maintain comprehensive, confidential student records and documentation
• Participate in school committees and professional development activities that advance our mission
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture that values every student

What We're Looking For

• Current Missouri school counselor certification or eligibility
• Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling, or related field (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
• Ability to support diverse learners and foster an inclusive environment
• Knowledge of college and career resources and pathways
• Commitment to student advocacy and ethical, confidential practice
• Collaborative mindset and flexibility in a dynamic school setting
