This full-time Director-level position offers the opportunity to drive clinical advancement and shape the standard of care for patients across the Northern California region.

About the Role

Merck is looking for a forward-thinking Regional Medical Scientific Director to support our immunology and gastrointestinal portfolio. As a Medical Science Liaison, you'll serve as a credible, scientific expert partnering with physicians, gastroenterologists, specialty pharmacists, and other healthcare providers to advance evidence-based treatment decisions for patients with inflammatory bowel disease and related immune-mediated conditions.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain strategic relationships with key opinion leaders, gastroenterologists, and healthcare providers across your territory
• Deliver scientific education on Merck's immunology and GI therapeutic solutions, grounded in current clinical evidence
• Support clinical decision-making through peer-to-peer scientific dialogue and publication review
• Collaborate with internal medical affairs, clinical development, and commercial teams to align on scientific strategy
• Identify and respond to scientific and medical information needs across your region
• Contribute to continuing medical education initiatives and clinical advisory activities
• Document interactions and maintain records consistent with regulatory and compliance standards

What We're Looking For

• Doctoral credential (PhD, PharmD, DNP, or MD) with scientific credibility in immunology, gastroenterology, or related field
• Proven ability to communicate complex clinical and scientific concepts to diverse healthcare audiences
• Strong territory management and relationship-building skills with a growth mindset
• Understanding of IBD pathophysiology, immunology, and current treatment paradigms
• Collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork and strategic priorities
• Willingness to travel extensively throughout Northern California
