International PFAS Forensics Subject Matter Expert

CDM Smith is hiring an International PFAS Forensics Subject Matter Expert in Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi. This is a full-time position for an experienced environmental professional to lead complex per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) investigations, remediation strategies, and technical consulting across domestic and international projects.

About the Role

As a PFAS Forensics Subject Matter Expert, you'll serve as a technical authority on the latest developments in PFAS contamination, detection, treatment, and regulatory compliance. You'll work directly with clients facing emerging environmental challenges, bringing deep expertise in groundwater forensics, site characterization, and remediation design. Your insight will shape how our teams approach some of the most pressing environmental problems facing industrial, municipal, and commercial clients nationwide and globally.

What You'll Do

• Lead forensic investigations to identify PFAS sources, transport pathways, and exposure routes at contaminated sites
• Design and oversee sampling programs, analytical protocols, and quality assurance practices
• Develop science-based remediation strategies and evaluate treatment technologies for PFAS removal
• Advise clients on regulatory requirements, risk assessment, and compliance pathways under evolving federal and state guidelines
• Mentor junior staff and build technical capacity within our environmental consulting teams
• Prepare technical reports, expert analyses, and regulatory submissions supporting site assessments and remediation decisions
• Support business development by providing expert technical input on PFAS-related opportunities and proposals

What We're Looking For

• Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in environmental science, geology, hydrogeology, civil engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of professional experience in environmental investigation, contamination assessment, or remediation
• Demonstrated expertise in PFAS chemistry, analytical methods, and treatment technologies
• Professional credentials such as PG (Professional Geologist) or PE (Professional Engineer) strongly preferred
• Track record of leading complex, multi-disciplinary environmental projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
• Commitment to staying current with emerging PFAS science and regulatory developments
