About the Role
As Major Gifts Officer, you are the strategic bridge between New England Public Media's mission and the philanthropic community. You'll identify, cultivate, and secure major gift commitments that sustain PBS, NPR, and locally-produced content serving the region. This role combines relationship-building, donor strategy, and advancement expertise to support NEPM's vision of fostering citizenship, culture, and the joy of learning across diverse communities.
What You'll Do
- Identify and cultivate prospective major donors, building and maintaining a portfolio of high-capacity prospects
- Develop personalized giving strategies aligned with donor interests and NEPM's programming priorities
- Solicit major gift commitments through compelling proposals, presentations, and direct engagement
- Steward existing donors through thank-you communication, impact reports, and donor recognition events
- Collaborate with NEPM leadership to craft compelling philanthropic cases and demonstrate program outcomes
- Maintain accurate donor records and report on progress toward development goals
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience securing major gifts in nonprofit development, public broadcasting, education, or arts
- Demonstrated ability to build authentic donor relationships and close significant gifts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate mission-driven impact
- Strategic thinking and organizational ability to manage multiple donor relationships
- Passion for public media's role in strengthening communities through trusted journalism, education, and culture
