Assistant Cook (Food and Nutrition)

Join Goddard Riverside Community Center as an Assistant Cook in our Planetarium location in Manhattan. As a full-time member of our food services team, you'll help prepare and serve nutritious meals that support the children, youth, and families we serve across our community programs.

In this Assistant Cook position, you'll work alongside experienced kitchen leadership to ensure every meal meets our standards for quality, nutrition, and food safety.

What You'll Do

• Prepare ingredients and meal components according to established recipes and cooking standards
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized kitchen environment
• Handle food storage, inventory, and ingredient management responsibly
• Assist with plating and meal service to maintain consistent quality and presentation
• Follow food safety protocols and comply with health department regulations
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to meet meal preparation schedules
• Support a respectful, team-focused work culture

• Previous experience in food preparation and kitchen operations
• Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team
