Handyman (Operations)

Goddard Riverside Community Center is hiring a full-time Handyman (Operations) at our Planetarium location in Manhattan, New York City. About the Role

As a Handyman within our Operations team, you will help ensure that the buildings and program spaces at Goddard Riverside's Planetarium site in Manhattan remain in excellent working condition. This is an on-site, full-time position central to the smooth daily operation of a community center that depends on reliable, well-kept facilities to deliver its services.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs across the facility, including basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical fixes.
• Respond promptly to repair requests and report larger issues that require specialized contractors.
• Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of program and common areas.
• Assist with setup, moving, and rearranging of furniture and equipment for events and programs.
• Support the Operations team with preventive upkeep and general building care.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in general building maintenance or a related handyman trade.
• Practical knowledge of basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
• Ability to lift, carry, and handle physical tasks throughout the workday.
• Dependability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Availability to work full-time on-site at the Planetarium location in Manhattan.
