Join The Arc San Diego as a Residential Specialist supporting individuals with disabilities in our Lakeside residential program. This full-time position offers Thursday through Saturday evenings from 3pm to 11pm, with compensation of $20.00–$20.65 per hour.
About the Role
As a Residential Specialist at The Arc San Diego, you provide compassionate direct care in a home-based environment, using a person-centered approach that empowers clients to build independence, make meaningful choices, and engage fully in daily activities. You'll be an essential support person, helping residents develop life skills and maintain dignity in their everyday routines.
What You'll Do
- Deliver direct personal care and support tailored to each individual's needs and preferences
- Assist with activities of daily living, household responsibilities, and community involvement
- Implement person-centered strategies that promote choice, autonomy, and skill-building
- Build trusting relationships and create a safe, respectful home environment
- Document care activities and communicate progress with the care team
- Support residents in pursuing meaningful interests and community participation

- Genuine compassion and patience working with individuals who have developmental and intellectual disabilities
- Reliability and professional commitment to evening and weekend shifts
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Physical capability to assist residents with mobility and personal care as needed
- Willingness to complete required training and maintain flexibility in responding to resident needs
