About the Role
As the Head Coach for the 8th grade boys basketball program at Holloman Middle School, you will lead practices, direct game-day strategy, and mentor middle school athletes both on and off the court. This position (vacancy ATH-090) sits within the Athletics Department of Alamogordo Public Schools and is central to building character, teamwork, and athletic skill in a developing roster of players.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and run effective basketball practices and team training sessions.
- Coach players during competitions and develop in-game strategies suited to the 8th grade level.
- Teach fundamental basketball skills, sportsmanship, and disciplined teamwork.
- Promote the academic and personal growth of every student-athlete on the team.
- Manage equipment, schedules, and team logistics in coordination with the Athletics Department.
- Uphold district policies, athletic regulations, and student safety standards at all times.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of basketball coaching, rules, and player development.
- Ability to motivate, instruct, and positively influence middle school students.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Compliance with all coaching certification and clearance requirements set by Alamogordo Public Schools and applicable state regulations.
