Liberty University is hiring a full-time Undergraduate Writing Coach (CASAS) in Lynchburg, Lynchburg City, to mentor students one-on-one and help them grow into confident, capable academic writers.
About the Role
As an Undergraduate Writing Coach with Liberty University's Center for Academic Support and Advising Services (CASAS), you will work directly with undergraduate students who visit the Writing Center throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. This on-site position in Lynchburg centers on personalized, conversation-driven coaching that strengthens each student's writing process from first draft to final submission.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead individual, one-on-one coaching sessions for undergraduate students who come to the Writing Center.
- Guide visitors through every stage of the writing process, including organization, clarity, grammar, and revision.
- Apply and explain the conventions of common academic citation and formatting styles, such as MLA and APA.
- Stay up to date on current standards and best practices across the various forms of undergraduate academic writing.
- Take on additional related duties as assigned by Writing Center leadership.
Qualifications
- Strong command of written English, including grammar, mechanics, and composition.
- Working familiarity with multiple academic formatting styles, including MLA and APA.
- Ability to communicate feedback clearly, patiently, and encouragingly in a one-on-one setting.
- Commitment to supporting student learning and academic growth.
