The University of Nevada, Reno is hiring a University Police Officer 2 to join the Northern Command of its University Police Department in Reno, Nevada. This full-time, on-site role offers an opportunity to protect and serve a thriving academic community.
About the Role
As a University Police Officer 2 with the University of Nevada, Reno, you will be a sworn law enforcement professional responsible for safeguarding students, faculty, staff, and visitors across the Reno campus. Working within the University Police Department's Northern Command, you will help maintain a secure environment where teaching, learning, and research can flourish.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol university grounds, buildings, and surrounding areas to deter and respond to criminal activity.
- Enforce state laws and institutional policies while upholding the rights and safety of all community members.
- Respond to calls for service, emergencies, and incidents, taking appropriate enforcement or assistance action.
- Conduct preliminary investigations, gather evidence, and prepare accurate, detailed reports.
- Build positive relationships through community-oriented policing and proactive public engagement.
- Provide support during campus events, emergencies, and crisis situations as directed.
Qualifications
- Eligibility to serve as a sworn peace officer in the State of Nevada, including applicable certification or academy requirements.
