As a Guide - Demonstrator 1 within the Islands of Samoa department, you will bring Samoan culture to life through hands-on demonstration and storytelling. This entry-level student position is designed for those at the start of their journey, making it a natural fit for freshmen or sophomores who have completed introductory coursework and want to gain practical experience while representing Brigham Young University–Hawaii.
Key Responsibilities
- Present authentic cultural information about Samoa to guests through live demonstration.
- Engage and educate visitors with welcoming, accurate, and memorable presentations.
- Support the daily activities and visitor experience within the Islands of Samoa village.
- Uphold the cultural values and standards represented by Brigham Young University–Hawaii.
Qualifications
- Current student status at Brigham Young University–Hawaii.
- Entry-level applicants welcome; basic foundational knowledge is sufficient, with little to no prior experience required.
- Comfort speaking to and demonstrating for groups of visitors on site.
- Genuine interest in Samoan culture and a desire to share it with a diverse audience.
