Foss Swim School is hiring Swim Instructors to join our team in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This is a part-time position where you'll teach students of all ages and abilities, building water confidence and critical water safety skills that last a lifetime.
About the Role
As a Swim Instructor at Foss Swim School, you will lead engaging, age-appropriate swimming lessons for students ranging from young children to adults. You'll design and deliver progressive lesson plans that meet each student's individual learning needs while maintaining a safe, encouraging environment. Your role combines teaching expertise with mentorship—helping students overcome water anxiety, master fundamental strokes, and develop the water awareness needed to stay safe.
What You'll Do
- Teach swimming lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels in a structured class setting
- Develop and deliver lesson plans that align with our curriculum and student progression goals
- Assess student abilities and adjust instruction to meet individual learning styles and paces
- Maintain a safe aquatic environment by enforcing water safety rules and monitoring students at all times
- Communicate progress and recommendations to parents and guardians
- Assist with facility maintenance and equipment setup as needed
What We're Looking For
- Swimming certification (such as Lifeguard Training, Water Safety Instructor certification, or equivalent aquatics credential)
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse populations
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for teaching swimming and water safety
- Ability to create inclusive, positive learning environments where all students feel valued
- Physical ability to demonstrate swimming techniques and be in the water during lessons
