Role Overview

As Privacy & AI Governance Counsel at Anaplan, you'll be the legal architect behind responsible innovation. We serve 2,400+ global companies—including Coca-Cola, Adobe, and LVMH—with an AI-powered business intelligence platform that enables them to outpace their competition. You'll work at the center of product strategy and legal compliance, ensuring our offerings meet an evolving global regulatory landscape while keeping our teams moving at speed.

Core Duties

  • Draft, review, and negotiate data processing agreements, Business Associate Agreements, data-sharing contracts, and AI-specific commercial terms that protect Anaplan and our customers.
  • Assess privacy and AI risks with Product and Engineering teams; lead Privacy by Design initiatives, Privacy Impact Assessments, Data Protection Impact Assessments, and AI risk evaluations.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive privacy and AI governance framework: policies, standards, system cards, playbooks, SOPs, and customer-facing notices.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance programs including cookie management, Records of Processing Activities, and Data Subject Access Requests.
  • Respond to customer questions and formal questionnaires regarding Anaplan's privacy and AI practices.
  • Distil complex legal and regulatory obligations into practical, clear guidance for product, engineering, security, and business teams.
  • Track federal, state, and international privacy law evolution; alert stakeholders to regulatory changes affecting our services and products.
  • Conduct periodic privacy maturity assessments; liaise with data protection authorities and regulatory bodies when required.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) degree, or equivalent foreign qualification, with an active law license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years of legal experience in privacy and AI law—either in-house at global SaaS and technology companies, or in specialized law firm practices.
  • Deep knowledge of global privacy frameworks: GDPR, CCPA and CPRA, emerging U.S. state privacy laws, HIPAA, EU AI Act, and EU Data Act.
  • Familiarity with governance standards and frameworks: ISO 42001, NIST AI Risk Management Framework, FedRAMP, and DORA.
  • Current IAPP CIPP/E/US certification (required); IAPP AIGP certification (preferred).
  • Practical experience with privacy compliance platforms, particularly OneTrust.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex matters across multiple time zones, solve problems analytically, and thrive in a fast-paced tech environment.
  • Genuine interest in technology and digital innovation. You're detail-oriented, proactive, self-directed, collaborative, and maintain good humour under pressure.
