The Opportunity
The primary purpose of our Veterinary Student Externship is to provide a hands-on learning experience for 3rd and 4th year students who are enrolled in a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. The externship typically involves working at our hospital in 2-week blocks, offering practical training under the supervision of experienced veterinarians.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient examinations and treatments
- Participate in diagnostic procedures such as blood work and imaging
- Help prepare patients for surgery and post-operative care
- Support administrative tasks related to patient care
- Learn about hospital protocols and procedures
Skills & Qualifications
- Enrolled in a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program (3rd or 4th year)
- Demonstrated interest in hands-on veterinary practice
- Aptitude for learning new medical and surgical procedures
- Strong communication skills to interact with clients and team members
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
