About the Role
This full-time, on-site Veterinary Assistant position at Colorado State University is part of a three-tier classification (Levels I, II, and III) that recognizes a progression of experience and responsibility within veterinary support work. As a member of the veterinary team in Fort Collins, you will provide hands-on assistance and care for domestic, exotic, and large animal species, contributing to the broader mission of clinical excellence, teaching, and animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians, technicians, and other team members throughout daily clinical and care activities.
- Safely handle, restrain, and monitor a diverse mix of domestic, exotic, and large animals.
- Assist with patient preparation, treatments, and routine procedures as directed.
- Help maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment and housing areas.
- Apply foundational knowledge of veterinary health practices to promote animal comfort and safety.
Qualifications
- A general background or education in veterinary health and animal care.
- Practical experience handling a variety of domestic, exotic, and large animal species.
- Comfort working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary veterinary team.
- Placement at Level I, II, or III is determined by relevant experience and demonstrated skill.
