Auburn University seeks a dedicated Veterans Resources Center School Certifying Official to join our student affairs team in Auburn, Alabama. As a full-time member of our Veterans Resource Center, you'll play a vital role in supporting our veteran student population by verifying their enrollment, administering their educational benefits, and ensuring compliance with Veterans Administration requirements.
Position Summary
This non-faculty position serves as the primary liaison between Auburn University and the Department of Veterans Affairs, working within the Office of Student Affairs. The School Certifying Official (SCO) is responsible for certifying that veteran and dependent students meet VA eligibility standards and are pursuing their education in accordance with their benefits. You'll be the trusted advocate ensuring our veterans receive the support and resources they need to succeed academically.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Certify veteran and dependent student enrollment, course loads, and academic progress for VA benefits administration
- Process and manage VA documentation, including Certificate of Eligibility forms and benefit application materials
- Advise veteran students on their educational benefits, eligibility requirements, and available campus resources
- Maintain accurate enrollment records and veteran student files in compliance with Department of Veterans Affairs regulations
- Monitor changes to student enrollment status and communicate updates to the VA in a timely manner
- Collaborate with registrar and financial aid offices to coordinate benefits processing
- Educate veteran students about their benefits and campus support services
