This Cloversearchworks careers role lets an experienced fundraising leader expand resources that strengthen statewide worker organizing and collective gains.
Position Summary
As Working Washington Development Director you join senior leadership and take charge of fundraising strategy for the linked 501(c) and 501(c) entities. You will craft plans that broaden income sources, accelerate individual and principal gifts, and fortify systems so the organization matches its ambition for durable statewide worker influence. Partnering closely with the Executive Director while supervising development and operations colleagues, you help turn recent organizing advances into lasting capacity. Professionals who enjoy genuine relationship building, steady resource engines, and guiding an enterprise through its next growth chapter will find a path to meaningful contribution.
Responsibilities
- Own overall development strategy and multi-year plans that diversify revenue and expand organizational reach.
- Grow individual supporter communities through attachment to the broader cause, cultivate principal donors, strengthen stewardship practices, and invent engagement pathways tied to victories and longer aims.
- Supervise two development and operations colleagues who handle finances, database tools, grant processes, budgeting, revenue forecasting, and reporting so the function stays effective and growth-ready.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to surface aligned funding pathways, refine external positioning, and raise visibility among partners.
- Foster an internal culture that treats fundraising as mission-critical while fully activating staff and board strengths.
Requirements
- Development leadership background that spans multiple income streams with clear results in individual giving and major gifts, plus skill converting vision into priorities, action steps, and measurable growth amid changing conditions.
- Collaborative, emotionally mature style that builds trust quickly, communicates openly, thrives through ambiguity, mentors staff, and acts as a strategic partner to the Executive Director while clarifying roles during evolution.
- Energized by work that builds worker strength and advances economic and racial justice; prior experience in political fundraising, labor, community organizing, or multi-entity 501(c)/501(c) settings is valued.
- Comfort providing strategic oversight of operational foundations such as budgeting, financial reporting, revenue projections, and database management.
- Strong writing and narrative ability that turns complex organizing and policy wins into clear, compelling cases that inspire investment, plus eagerness for direct asks and lasting partnerships with donors and institutions.
