Food & Consumables Coach

Walmart is seeking a Food & Consumables Coach to join its team in Avondale, Kentucky. In this full-time position, you'll lead and develop grocery and consumables associates, drive operational excellence, and champion company initiatives across the food department.

What This Role Involves

As a Food & Consumables Coach at Walmart, you're responsible for building a capable, engaged team in one of the store's highest-traffic departments. You'll combine hands-on expertise with mentoring skill, walking the floor regularly to observe operations and guide associates toward success. Your focus is on translating company direction and business strategy into day-to-day store practices, using structured coaching conversations and real-time feedback to help your team grow.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and mentor consumables and food associates to meet performance standards and company expectations
• Conduct regular store tours and assessments to evaluate operations, product presentation, and associate performance
• Deliver structured coaching and development to build associate skills and capability
• Communicate company initiatives, merchandising updates, policy changes, and business priorities to team members
• Provide timely, constructive feedback and guidance to support continuous improvement
• Collaborate with store operations, management, and cross-functional teams on departmental priorities and store direction
• Apply technology tools to monitor performance data, track metrics, and inform operational decisions
• Model company values, culture, and behavioral standards in all associate interactions

Who We're Looking For

• Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and motivate teams in a retail environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience coaching associates at all levels
• Hands-on knowledge of grocery, food, or consumables retail operations
• Proficiency with retail technology systems and performance tracking tools
• Physical ability to travel within the store, stand for extended shifts, and assist with stocking and merchandising as needed
• Reliable attendance and flexibility to support evolving business needs
